About the SubPro ODP

On 24 March 2021, the Generic Names Supporting Organization (GNSO) Council, following its approval of the relevant outputs contained in the Final Report on the new gTLD Subsequent Procedures Policy Development Process, transmitted the Recommendations Report to the ICANN Board. The Final Report contains over 200 outputs consisting of affirmations, affirmations with modification, recommendations, implementation guidance, and no agreement.

On 12 September 2021, the Board resolved to direct the President and CEO, or his designee(s), to conduct the ODP by addressing the questions outlined in the New gTLD Subsequent Procedures Operational Design Phase Scoping Document. The Final Report outputs concern complex operational requirements, and the Board will benefit from further due diligence to evaluate the impact of implementing them.

This webinar will include a summary of the ODP process, an overview of the Board-approved scope for the SubPro ODP, and its anticipated timeline. For more information on the SubPro ODP, please visit here.

About ICANN

ICANN's mission is to help ensure a stable, secure, and unified global Internet. To reach another person on the Internet, you need to type an address – a name or a number – into your computer or other device. That address must be unique so computers know where to find each other. ICANN helps coordinate and support these unique identifiers across the world. ICANN was formed in 1998 as a nonprofit public benefit corporation with a community of participants from all over the world.
