Today, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) is pleased to announce that the 2024 ICANN DNS Symposium (IDS) will be held on 25 September online and in Santa Marta, Colombia.
Under the theme "Navigating the Future: Innovations and Challenges in DNS Operations," IDS 2024 will coincide with ICANN's Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) Domain Names Week and the DNS Community Day by the DNS Operations, Analysis, and Research Center (DNS OARC). Commencing with a full day of plenary sessions, the week-long series of events promises a comprehensive exploration of pivotal issues in the Domain Name System (DNS) landscape.
This year, ICANN will invite speakers to present on the innovations and challenges shaping the future of the DNS from the perspective of the operator. The symposium invites researchers, developers, and operators (of any description) to present on subjects including, but not limited to, ideas around extending the DNS protocol, optimizing performance, safeguarding DNS communications, and increasing the reliability and availability of DNS service in case of attack or outage.
Here is the week's schedule of events:
- Monday, 23 September – Plenary Sessions
- Tuesday, 24 September – LAC Domain Names Week
- Wednesday, 25 September – ICANN DNS Symposium
- Thursday, 26 September – DNS Community Day by DNS OARC
As in previous years, the symposium offers a forum for individuals to discuss technical topics related to the DNS. The IDS is intended for attendees with a clear understanding of the DNS and its operations, such as generic top-level domain (gTLD) brand and geographic registries, ICANN-accredited registrars, gTLD resellers, gTLD hosting providers, and registry service providers.
If you are interested in presenting at IDS 2024, please send a one-paragraph description of your proposed topic to ids-proposals@icann.org by 26 August 2024. We will notify accepted speakers and publish a preliminary agenda by 30 August 2024.
