Having private tld's I think are long overdue. There hasn't been clear guidance on what to specifically use when setting up your own private domain. I think using only .internal as the sole English language private tld may provide option

The IETF has a draft RFC that suggests additional tld that should be reserved due to the tld "has been queried and a root name server has responded to the query with a non-existent domain (NXDOMAIN) result, i.e., the string has not been delegated but has been queried."

https://www.ietf.org/archive/id/draft-chapin-rfc2606bis-00.html

This leads me to believe that these tld's are likely already in use for the reasons this new tld is supposed to cover. I have personally used, and seen these tld's used for private purposes.

After some investigation of these tld' (some of these, like .local due to apple's use, may be problematic) including them as tld's for private use would be formalizing what they are already being used for.
